My letter to the Australian High Commission in Canada (Ottawa) FREEASSANGE

Jude Fleming

I just sent this letter this morning. Please feel free to use it as a template for your own letters encouraging Australia to repatriate Julian Assange. (see below)

“I’m just following up our telephone conversation from last week with a summary of my concerns about Julian Assange.

I am a Canadian woman who has followed the saga of Julian Assange since his incarceration in Dec. 2010. According to the United Nations he has been arbitrarily detained for 7.5 years and deserves both Safe Passage to a safe country and compensation from the UK and Sweden for this agregious episode.

I have noted with interest how Australia has not supported him as a citizen who has not been charged nor convicted of a crime, who is abroad and requires foreign protection. I have followed this case closely, read transcripts of Australian Senate presentations, perused the FOIA documents made publicly available and followed the news. I am a Wikileaks supporter who values freedom of speech and press. </

In my view, Australia has abandoned Julian Assange. Ministers and politicians have issued vague, non-commital, passive statements which have not assured him that he will not be extradited to the United States should he return to Australia. I do not know the status of his passport. Given that his home country has not protected nor advocated for his human rights, he took refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London, UK. It is a poor reflection on Australia that one of its award winning journalists/publishers had to take such a drastic measure in order to preserve his life and liberty.

This letter is a request for Australia to immediately increase its consular support for Julian Assange. I ask that you send a security team, diplomats, doctors and dignitaries to check on him at 3 Hans Cres., London UK and execute safe passage for him out of that location where his health is gravely compromised. I would like him to return to Australia and resume his full participation in Australian citizenship and global citizenship. I understand that Australia has excellent health and dental care which he urgently requires.

If Mr. Assange and his legal team decide, after he makes a recovery in Australia, that he may want to live elsewhere down the road, that would be an option for him.

I have kept this letter very respectful despite the fact that I am sorely disappointed in Australia’s treatment of one of its own citizens. I am certain that the people of Australia would support the move to repatriate Julian Assange to his home country as soon as possible. It would be extremely unfortunate if the only way he could be repatriated back to Australia is in a coffin.

I would be grateful if you could pass this along to Malcolm Turnbull’s office and any other departments who could assist in expediting this request. Looking forward to your reply.

Have a wonderful day,

Jude Fleming “

It’s time to release ALL THE TRUTHTELLERS FROM IMPRISONMENT FOR TELLING THE TRUTH. Mr. Assange dared to release that which we need to know hidden by the darkness of secrecy that rhreatens everyone on the planet. Our prayers to you Mr. Assange for your release.
